"We came to know about www.savekurnool.org through one of our colleague (a GPREC alumni). We are very impressed with the activities being performed by GPREC (Vivekananda Study Circle) in helping Flood victims directly and saving people at Kurnool.

We highly appreciate your effort towards this activity and we would like to personally contribute Rs. 10,000 to support this goal.

To support Kurnool flood victims, last month we started a fund by contributing Rs 25,000 ourselves and collected around Rs 1,50,000 from our friends on the banner name of "NRI friends from Northern Virgina" and all the money being spent directly towards Kurnool Dist Flood Relief activities.

"NRI friends from Northern Virgina", a group started by Prathap Nookala and me, has been actively involved in raising money towards Kurnool flood victims and also helping them in various aspects. The aim of this group is to make sure that every penny that is raised for this cause is spent to help the victims directly. "

"All of us aware that the recent floods had shaken the lives of people of Andhra Pradesh.  Particularly people from Kurnool District has suffered the maximum.  During the period 15th October 2009 to 16th October 2009, I was at Kurnool and physically witnessed the plight of the place and the inhabitants.  Every where, every nook and corner the remains of disaster is clearly evident with abandoned houses, shops and houses filled with piles of mud, things getting rotten in the mud, no support from the Government and leaving the city and its people to their plight, dead animals getting rotten and overall a heartbreaking scenario.  The big canals which are once considered as life support for the Kurnool city are now looking like drainages with  huge amounts of waste, mud and the dead animals.  These are creating a huge health scare to the people by breeding the mosquitoes, bacteria and unbearable stinking smell.  The flood water entered into all the industries and carried the toxins into the city thereby polluting the potable water sources which is also a major threat to the inhabitants.  The fertile land soaked with the toxins filled water affected the fertility of the land thereby adding on to the woos of the poor farmers.  One more biggest health scare standing before the Kurnool people is the fugitive dust emitting from the mud on the uncleaned roads causing various allergic and lungs related health problems.

Dear All, if I do not stop here, it will continue endlessly.  Hence I will stop here and would like to convey you that G.P.R.Engineering College is doing lot of rehabilitation work.  With folded hands I would like to appeal you all to generously donate to this noble cause."

Our Plan

Every single paise that we collect will be spent to help the victims directly. We are not going to donate it to any other organisation. We have our own 'Vivekananda Study Circle' (of GPREC) which is functioning very actively and has been working in relief operations for the last 20 days, ever since the tragedy happened. We know exactly where the actual need is there and so will make sure that it will reach the deserving people only. Click here to view the photos.
